In the wake of the growing coronavirus pandemic, UH professor Dr. Seamus Curran developed a viable solution to a pressing problem. When Curran first heard about the critical shortage of N95 masks, he wanted to help. (Read full story here…)
Prof. Shay Curran’s company Integricote developed a hydrophobic coating quite a few years ago to waterproof surfaces like masonry, wood and concrete. But recently, he shifted his focus toward the fight against COVID-19. (Read/watch full story here…)
Prof. Shay Curran said he developed the waterproofing-style solution for covering fabrics back in 2011, and found new use for it due to the virus.

INTEGRICOTE — Coatings that Seal from Within.
Integricote is a materials manufacturing company that provides nanocoatings to biochemical, chemical, energy and construction industries including water-repellent coatings for fabrics, canvas, tarps, glass, wood and masonry.
Our hydrophobic coatings are specifically designed to improve the nature and quality of the substrates by preventing water-substrate interactions. The technology was developed in the materials/chemistry labs (Institute for NanoEnergy) of the physics department at the University of Houston and started commercialization in 2013.
Please contact our dedicated staff at info@integricote.com if you have questions regarding our series of hydrophobic coatings.
HOW IT WORKS – LIFESTYLE CHANGE
Our environmentally friendly hydrophobic coatings greatly reduce surface tension between water and the coated surface, and hence impart excellent water repellency.
